The Preschool is a fully licensed, accredited, award-winning and affordable preschool that provides children ages 2-5 with developmentally appropriate programs that promote independence as well as social, physical and psychological well-being in a loving and nurturing environment. The Preschool is a VPK, Family Central, and Early Learning Coalition Provider. VPK services are provided Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The Preschool is open year round Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Breakfast and lunches are included. Read To Me Program

Do you love to read? Do you enjoy children? Are you looking for a way to make a difference? One of the best ways to have an impact on our community and children's success in school and life is to be a volunteer reader through the Center for Active Aging “Read to Me” Program.
More than half of all kindergartners are entering school without the social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills they need to be successful. A typical child from a low-income family enters kindergarten with a listening vocabulary of 3,000 words, while a typical child of a higher income family enters with a listening vocabulary of 20,000 words. Research shows that those who start behind often stay behind.
Reading aloud with children not only builds their language and literacy skills, it exposes them to new ideas, builds their social and emotional skills, and most importantly, inspires them to have fun and become lifelong learners.
The Center for Active Aging is looking for business professionals, community leaders, parents and high school students to volunteer to read to our preschool children. As a volunteer reader, you will:

• Develop nurturing relationships that boost children's self-esteem and ability to learn.
• Expose children to new words and ideas.
• Help children develop longer attention spans.
• Promote language, literacy and social skills that are necessary for school readiness.
• Have a lot of fun with the children

Around the World: Multicultural Programming

The Center for Active Aging Preschool is excited to introduce our brand new arts and cultural program “Around the World.” The Preschool has partnered with some of the area’s best music, art and movement certified instructors to develop and implement a comprehensive program that combines elements of art and music education, cultural awareness and movement. Our program includes unique and fun activities designed to develop cultural awareness, increase cognitive, social and emotional skills and foster an appreciation for arts and culture.
